Inheritance is a transmission way of identity, rank and position in a society, it can reflect the social changes from the inheritance way and heir choice. In this paper, it takes inheritance system as the object between China and Japan in the late14th century. Inheritance could be divided into different main body according to the blood relationship. It can reveal the cause of differences and effects between the two countries in historical, social and ideological through property inheritance.This paper is divided into three parts:In the first part, the property inheritance is divided as men and women according to the blood relationship. We can discuss the evolution, principle and differences in the practical life and women’s property rights in law and actual contradiction. Then compare it with Japan’s eldest son’s inherits system, and discusses the Japanese property inheritance’s evolution from various points of to the eldest son inherited the reason and the loss of Japanese women inheritance. The second part discusses the adopted son of the consanguinity and son-in-law "outsiders" for family property inheritance rights, in China attaches great importance to the blood, to give "reward" the nature of the property to the adopted son to reward its have the obligation that death was buried, for son-in-law is nominally inheritance, real property transfer in the relay, and the emphasis on family continuity blood relation, property inheritance than Japan, the adopted son and son-in-law such outsiders often because of to replace biological child as the main body of property inheritance. The third part compares the property inheritance causes of differences between the two countries and the impact on their respective, from social and historical background, the family concept and Confucianism three aspects to analyze the reason for the difference, from social relationships, social concept and the social economy three aspects to illustrate the difference on the different effects of the two countries.Through the above comparison and analysis of the property inheritance subject differences of cause and effect, draw society’s most essential difference between the two countries, namely in the idea of blood relationship, leading to the differences between the two countries in property inheritance, and thus reflects the mainstream concept of differences between the two countries, patriarchal domination between China and the utility of Japan.
