The psychological process of will and favorable trait are of great importance for pupil’s studying, activities as well as growing. Without them, it’s difficult for pupils to obtain good effects in studying. What’s worse, cognitive (mental) development and formation of personality will also be adversely affected. Therefore, it is of great significance to get to know first-grade pupils’will characteristics and take effective education training measures so as to make primary school students form good will qualities. However, seen from the existing research, people pay more attention in preschool and school-age, children’s cognitive development research, personality and sociality development research as well as development of moral trait, while less focus was laid down in the research of will process and the development of will trait. Therefore, this essay takes will characteristics and cultivation of first-grade pupils as research topic, in the hope of enriching relevant research in the field of information and putting forward the corresponding education suggestions for teachers’reference.Using first-grade pupils(with half of the semester admission) as the object of study, this research investigates and studies his or (her) will features through questionnaire survey and then put forward the corresponding education suggestions.First, the author carried out study of the basic theory literature of will, including the corresponding theoretical discussion papers concerning psychological literature, which mainly focus on the following aspects as the role of psychological mechanism of will, definition of will, development of will, education of will, etc. Besides this, the author conducted a special study of the empirical research in will with insufficient amount. Due to the first-grade pupils have just started systematic learning of Chinese and mathematics, etc, they are in the initial stage of understanding and using words as well as self awareness and self evaluation ability, therefore, this essay is divided into parents questionnaire and teachers (head teacher)questionnaire and then fill in them according to their long-term observation of children’s behavior. The theoretical basis of the questionnaire establishment is about the theoretical research and theoretical exploration of will. This study designed the following seven factors as motility, consciousness, wisdom, independence, decisiveness, self-control ability and tenacity on the trait of will.Seen from the results of the study, The general development trend of first-grade pupils will can be concluded like this:Grade one pupils are at the beginning of all-round development stage of willpower with a number of characters came into being.(We can’t use the demands of the development of adults’to perceive their current level). Around40to50%of the students develop well or heading towards being good as to this questionnaire study.The experimental results show that there are gender differences in the development of will characters and girls to a certain extent are superior to boys. Parents’upbringing methods have exerted a positive effects on children’s will level if their children are requires to do more chores, care for their daily life and help parents, which is obvious to understand. While children entered primary school, they will experience16to21years learning period where their development of willpower are mainly determined. Therefore, not only one grade professional qualification is related to the will, willpower will always paly a crucial role in the long school education in the future. Some researchers have put up with "cultivating students’ learning will "concept which integrates the general concept will to specific studying will is sure to be worthy of deep studying.The experimental results show that first-grade pupils are in the most active transition phase of will trait development, which is of great importance to strengthen the cultivation of students’willpower. In this case, it should be one of the important education task for first-grade pupils.5suggestions concerning will cultivation are put forward based on relevant psychology theory and the results in this study.Due to the limited time and energy, this essay hasn’t conducted research on senior primary school pupils. There are many worthy of exploring problems that need to be studied in the future.
