A lot of countries offer Chinese curriculum by the booming of Mandarin fever,and many foreign students come to China for studying in a pure Chinese atmosphere.As one of the most Chinese-populated countries, Indonesia is even harder to keep awayfrom Chinese language teaching, also, more and more Chinese Schools in Indonesiahave introduced Chinese curriculum under its domestic development of Chineseteaching. Therefore, we need to make it clear that how to improve the quality ofteaching Chinese as a foreign language and how to foster students’ Chinesecommunication ability. As a newly developed method, task-based teaching methodsteps into the sight of Chinese teaching classes with its unique advantages. Thismethod mainly uses the way of “learning by doing”, so teachers should create a reallanguage environment, and let students improve their communication ability in realcontext. Since the main object of Chinese listening and speaking class is to fosterstudents’ communication ability, the task-based teaching method is of great value inpractice.When teaching Chinese in Bandung Rong Xing Trilingual School, the writertried to apply task-based teaching method into listening and speaking class. This essayis a research and conclusion based on the teaching practice. The whole essay consistsof four chapters. Chapter one is an introduction of essay’s research object and thebackground information of the topic, which describes the method’s basic theory,teaching link, the principle of teaching design and its research status. Chapter twointroduces the practice of task-based teaching method in listening and speaking classesof Rong Xing Trilingual School, and discusses the feasibility of applying it intoIndonesian Chinese listening and speaking classes via survey and interview. Chapterthree makes a comparison between task-based teaching method and traditional3Pteaching method, and analyzes its reference value in Indonesian Chinese teaching. The writer hopes this essay would be helpful for Indonesian Chinese teaching,and also for improving the Chinese teaching status in Indonesia, and provide someexperience for overseas Chinese teaching.
