The colorful world makes our live funny and wonderful. Color is a kind of visual reflects and one of the fundamental cognitive categories. Language is symbolic system of combination of pronunciation and meaning. Vocabulary is an indispensable part of language symbolic system. Vocabulary of language is a complicate system which includes several branches. Color words play an important role in the whole vocabulary system with their characteristic and function. They not only enrich language vocabularies but also we can find out something more profoundly of language backgrounds from color words. They are historical culture, religious belief, living habits and thinking psychology of cultural cognition of different nationalities.The article is four parts except for the introduction. The introduction discussed the research of Chinese and Mongolian color words and introduced briefly theoretical basis. The first part is about characteristics and function of Chinese and Mongolian color words which have some similarities. Both Chinese and Mongolian color words are subjective,objective symbolic,vivid,national,systymatic,ambiguous and dual in character.They also have rhetorical and word formation function in functionality.The second part is about formation of Chinese and Mongolian color words. In this part, the writer summed up similarities and differences of Chinese and Mongolian color words with concrete examples. The third part is about cognitive semantic comparison of Chinese and Mongolian color word "white". In this part, the writer described semantic content of Chinese and Mongolian color word "white". Plentiful semantic of The Chinese and Mongolian color word "white" is based on the original meaning extends through cognitive ways of metaphor and metonymy then finally formed semantic chains. The fourth chapter is about cultural connation of color word "Bai". t cultural connation of the same color word" Bai "in Chinese and Mongolian are totally different in value orientation.The writer expalained the reason why Chinese taboo white color and Mongolian adore white color from ethical belief,political history and living habit.Every nationality has her color words. Because of common cognitive psychology of human beings, different nationalities have basically same understanding to same object. However, different cultural background of different nationalities generate different or even absolutely opposite cognitive disposition to same object among nationalities. The writer hopes the conclusion of the article could promote cross cultural communication and teaching of Chinese and Mongolian...
