The Interpretation Of The Word Culture Of Mongolian Chinese "white"

Color words have occupied a certain proportion in each language in the world.They record the cultural precipitation,aesthetic pursuit and value orientation of different nationalities in different historical periods,and can be considered a linguistic sign to approach ethnic characteristics.Different ethnic groups have different psychological effects on different colors.Thus "white" not only have a meaning of the color,but also have plenty of other connotative meanings in both Mongolian and Han's language.From the perspective of language and culture,this paper wants to make a contrastive study of "white" system words' cultural meaning and emotional colors in both Mongolian and Han's language.The thesis is organized into five parts.The first part is an introduction,including the research purpose,methods,significance,trends and a brief description of the corpus of sources.From the second to fourth part is the main body of the thesis,which is divided into three chapters.The first chapter focuses on the definition of some concepts,including the definition of the "white" system words and its character.And also included a brief discuss to the word's emotional color.The second chapter makes a contrastive study of "white" system words in both Mongolian and Chinese languages.The objective is to find the main factors of their differences in meaning and emotional color.First of all,discussed the semantic meaning of Mongolian and Chinese "white" system words respectively and classified these by emotional color,like commendatory,derogatory and neutral sense.Then compare the "white"system words of these two languages and pointed out their similarities and diversities.Mongolian "white" system words tend to have positive meanings.It is the opposite of Chinese "white" system words.Language is the carrier of culture.There are lots of cultural factors resulting the diversity in Mongolian and Chinese"white" system words,such as both ethnic group's customs,aesthetics,value orientation and thinking set and so on.In the short,the culture diversity caused differences in "white" system words of the Mongolian and Chinese languages.And it influenced "white" system words' color emotion too.In addition,foreign culture and different language groups' contacts also influenced "white" system words of both languages.The third chapter brings a cultural study of the "white" system words in Mongolian and Chinese.In some degree,the emotional meaning of words reflects the cultural nature of objective things.Differences of cultural factors are directly reflected in the language.Compared with other language components,vocabulary mirrors the culture in the most expressive way.So it is always obvious in the words' connotation,use of words and emotional color.This chapter builds upon five main aspects,such as life style,political system,religious beliefs,literature and art and way of thinking to analyze deeply the reasons of the diversity of two languages' "white" system words.In sum,Mongolians worship white while the Chinese(Hans)regard white as an ominous color,and always taboo white in their life.The differences between the nomadic and cultivation culture caused that Mongolian and Chinese have different understanding of the same color word"white",which reflects in the language,makes large differences in the meaning and color emotion of "white" system words.The fifth part is the conclusion.In this paper,based on the comparison and analysis of both Mongolian and Chinese "white" system words,understand the similarities and differences in these two ethnic groups' "white" system words' meaning and emotional color,meanwhile,also have a certain understanding of the cultural factors,such as the cultural tradition,the thinking set and the aesthetic pursuit of these two ethnic.
