Fishing village culture occupies an important position in Chinese excellenttraditional culture, including material culture and non-material culture. Currently, theprotection of intangible cultural heritage has made a great effort, but it still cannotstop the disappearance of a lot of precious culture. In the long process of historical development along the coastline of Qingdao thereformed a lot of small coastal fishing villages. Since ancient times there appeared thefisheries civilization. In the course of thousands of years of fisheries development, aunique traditional culture was formed in Qingdao fishing villages, including typicalfishing village housing construction in the form of seaweed, the Dragon King Temple, the Temple of Heavenly Queen, and other tangible material culture different from theinland styles. What is more, there are rich non-material culture such as sea offeringceremonies held regularly to pray for a good harvest of fisheries, and ocean legends. Many traditional cultures have now been included in the national intangible culturalheritage protection catalog.Since modern times, along with the acceleration of urbanization, the scattering ofQingdao fishing villages has undergone great changes: many fishing villages havedisappeared, while the intangible culture is facing more severe plight.
