Le2is a difficult topic in Chinese grammar. Previous studies have made some progresses including the aspects of width and depth. For example, we have understood the semantic core, the grammar structure, and the application in teaching Chinese as a second language.Based on statistic test on corpus database, we investigated the effects on the social choice of le2, by considering a variety of factors, such as social property, emotion, the relations, and the venue of communication of a person, and so on. We studied the pragmatic objective and pragmatic effect of use the select of le2, and summarized selection law of using le2in different contexts.We collect corpus from corpus database. Based on the oral corpus of le2in Beijing and the application of le2in parts of ccl database, we investigated the social choice of le2by using statistical techniques.By utilizing the statistical software SPSS17.0, and by considering the analysis of difference, relations and regression, we obtained the following results:1. Le2is often used in indicative mood, and show obvious difference when comparing its usage in interrogative, and imperative (or emphasized) mood.2. There exist relations between the usage of le2and the age, sex, tribe, place, education experience and career of the speaker. Specifically, older speaker use le2more often in indicative and interrogative mood than younger ones, men use it more frequently than women, and the minority tends to used it when chatting with others, especially in indicative and imperative (or emphasized) mood. While the educated and high-class people use le2less often. Moreover, the living area of a people affects the usage of le2. Overall, the education experience is the most important factor to affect the usage of le2.3. The behavior of using le2is related to the motivation, emotion, circumstances, social status of a speaker, where circumstances and social status are the most and the least important factors, respectively.4. The politeness of using le2also associates with the motivation, emotion, circumstances, social status of a speaker, where circumstances and motivation are the most and the least important factors, respectively.In this work, we utilized the theory of behavior, politeness principle, and face theory, and so on. We believe our work provide insights in Social pragmatic study, verbal communication, and teaching Chinese as a second language.
