Under the background of the rapid development of Chinese society and theglobalization, the developed on the basis of the mass media technology and with thesupport of popular culture, the excessive entertainment-oriented phenomenon isintensified. Excessive entertainment-oriented is a kind of morbid phenomenon of massculture, the entertainment factors are extracted from the entertainment. At the same time,the information property is changed to highlight information sentimental, flat light andvulgarization. Specific performance for the entertainment-oriented are the media’sentertainment and the information’s entertainment. Excessive entertainment-orientedphenomenon is showed from four aspects.Review on the definition of mass culture of Chinese and western and to fullyunderstand the popular culture. The Chinese mass culture also has the differentdevelopment periods, we need to clear the development of Chinese mass culture indifferent historical stage of uniqueness and the universal characteristics.Mass culturepursues flat, embodied in commercialization, sentimental and visual characteristics, topromote the entertainment business profits, thus produce mediocrity and choose the lowstandard of entertainment culture and consumer products. Mass culture pursuesrheological property, embodied in vogue, fashion, features of globalization and topromote the entertainment to pay more attention to the pluralistic development of theentertainment. Mass culture pursues the handling, embodied in deception and control,influences the abuse of entertainment media rights. With the standardized andpersonalized features, for excessive development and meet the demand of audiencepsychology, the entertainment-oriented is born.Finally, from the tool rationality and human rationality and moral rationality threeaspects to rethink the excessive entertainment. No matter in what time and what kind ofsocial environment, as main output of mass culture in terms of cultural consumptionproducts, the entertainment should obey the three rationality and realize the moderateentertainment.
