This is a report on the E-C translation of the Great Typo Hunt: Two Friends Changing the World,One Correction at a Time. The words in the source text is about8000. The book is relatively new,about two Americans travelling around the America to find and correct typos. From the book, wecan learn about Americans’ attitude towards public signs, the usage and common errors ofAmerican public signs.The chapter of “the preparation of translation” introduces the background and content of thetranslation project and analyzes the language feature of source text and target text. In addition,the third chapter narrates the process of translation including comprehension, expressing,proofreading and embellishing. The chapter of “case study” discusses annotation, emotion effect,creativity, register, discourse cohesive device in translation through some typical translationcases.Through describing the project and analyzing the cases, a conclusion is achieved. That is,before translating the text, translators need to analyze the project and find out the features of thelanguage; during translating, translator should pay attention to emotion effect of the author,consider the creativity and register in translation and make full use of translation skills, such asadding notes, ellipsis and supplement and cohesive device; translators should constantly acquireencyclopedic knowledge in order to obtain an ideal version.
