Nowadays, YunYang Lantern dance has become aparticular local folk culture of Yun County which result from its elaborate props andthe vivid performance of the dancers. And those are the reasons that why it washanded down till the present time with the great value and connotation of YunYang’slocal culture.The outline of the article is roughly like this: the main idea is researchingYunYang Lantern dance as a typical intangible cultural heritage; Two entry pointsareexternal culture and internal culture; Three analyzing aspects-A, illustrating theorigins and development, content and form, prosperous and change of the dancethrough internal culture. B, discussing the value of the show, the problems and alsothe solutions in protecting its development. This paper uses historical researchmethods, while supported by interdisciplinary research methods in sociology,anthropology, and cultural folklore to do the job. In order to obtain first-hand basisof data, we did field investigation and consult relevant referencesbased on thecircumstances and investigation needs.Then we tried to give a scientific interpretationof Yunyang Phoenix Lantern dance. This article is consist of five parts: Theintroduction; subjects and methods; case study; case analysis; conclusions andrecommendations.The first part is an introduction. With the discussing on the background andsignificance of the topics,those subject related literature were reviewed, and the coreconcepts of the text keywords were defined.The second part is about the object of this study and research methods we chose.This paper describes how the research was carried out and the special angel andunique technology we used.The third part is the case study results. We combed the origin and developmentof Yunyang Phoenix Lantern dance, the content and form, and the prosperous andchanges with reasons explained.The fourth part is the case study analysis phase. By inspectingsome cases of the show we elaborated the value of it, the difficult we facing in developing andprotectingthe dance, and some strategies that may be valuable for us.The fifth part is the study’s conclusions and recommendations. On the basis ofthe summary of the paper’s overall structure, it is recommended:departments thatrelevant tothis career need to pay more attention, like some more well-organized andplanned excavation.Enhance the people’s sense of participation to spreadYunyangculture. Encourage innovative ideas, and promote the cultural system to foster culturalindustry enterprises. Meanwhile, take the road of integrating folk sports heritage andschool education.
