Facing the increasingly sharp contradiction between the energy development and environmental protection, some countries are actively finding solutions to this problem, such as to develop new gas drilling technologies and to explore some unconventional energy. To take example by the advanced exploration technology in other countries can effectively promote the sound and rapid development of our economy. Therefore, it is necessary to translate some English texts on energy science and technology into Chinese. The thesis, based on the translation of Unconventional Energy Resources:2011Review, is an introduction and research as well as summary on the process and performance of the translating. Under the guidance of Peter Newmark’s Text Classification Theory, it mainly discusses the features of the original text and analyzes the translation methods and skills used in the translating. The thesis makes it clear that good knowledge of translation theories and appropriate translation skills will contribute to guaranteeing the quality of the translation, and abundant translating experience can improve its efficiency. Therefore, a qualified translator should be equipped with good knowledge of translation theories and the capability of using translation skills skillfully. In addition, it is essential for a translator to pay attention to the process of the translation and understand the purpose of translation as well as the level of the target readers.
