The19th century is a turning point in the development of Russian history, the greatpatriotic war of1812, the party uprising in December, the abolition of serfdom reform in1861, these promote the events of the social democracy process, make the contradictionbetween the rule of tsarist autocracy and people’s increasingly fierce, the rising of thedemocratic revolution movement. With the production of the awakening of people’s thoughtsand the democratic ideas, the development of art and culture also active unprecedented. Suchas Bellinsky, chernyshevsky,a group of intellectuals put forward that "art is the representationof reality","beauty is life",the thoughts of literature and art, believe that art intervention to life,reflects the social reality, reveal the social contradictions.And the painting art is the image ofan era records, like a mirror, reflecting the characteristics of an era. In the19th centuryRussia’s political and ideological change gives new blood to Russian culture, Russian criticalrealism painting heyday, some nationalist ideas of Russian painter’s brush reflect the reality ofthe society, show the living actuality of the people, the real objective description of thesociety at that time expressed the understanding and sympathy for the people, a large numberof outstanding paintings shaking up the people’s hearts.Among the paintings in Russia in the19th century, a lot of them turned out to be theones with the tone of tragic.With the reference on a large number of literature, this paper hasfocused on Russian paintings,using painting of mirror reflection, and reappearance ofRussian society in the19th century, to analyze the creation background of the paintings,ponder the painter’s emotion, so as to deepen the understanding of Russia,and deepen thelove of Russian culture.The whole text is composed by introduction, main content, and conclusion.First part is introduction.It has generally reviewed the Russian social atmosphere in the19th century.Then the main part, which is divided into four chapters.The first chapter talk about the tragedy tone in the paintings of Russia in the19thcentury,which has reflected the social reality of Russia in the19th century,and can be dividedinto four categories:analysis, described the development of society and progress to people’slife,that brought pain, helpless and confusion,using the mirror reflecting in paintings.Thesecond chapter:the Russian national colorific ponderosity and national spirit.The paintingstyle of a nation has been influenced by his national features so deep, that in Russianpaintings of the19th century, the formation of the tragedy is no accident. Russian artistsreflected the ponderosity in the form of paintings.At the same time, the national ponderosityhad helped to form the ation of the national spirit, push forward the Russian state and culture with its national brave, bold, tenacity, optimistic characteristics.The third chapter is based onthe perspective of painting professional analysis to express the tragic tone in painting works,so that to deepen understand tragic in Russian paintings of the19th century on the inheritanceand development of tragedy tone. The fourth chapter is according to the painting languageform of two types of figurative painting and image, and analyzes the tragedy tone of Russianpaintings in the19th century again,to emphasize the unity of the subjective and objective,with the painting art in social reality, subjective thoughts and emotions by the artists.The last part is the conclusion, which has summarized the central idea, thesignificance and the value of this whole work.
