Secondary vocational students are in accelerated phase and the critical period ofphysical and mental development. Helplessness in learning not only effects secondaryvocational school students’ learning enthusiasm, also will have a negative impact onthe development of their physical and mental health. Research from the achievementgoal orientation, academic self-efficacy two internal essential factors, to examine itseffect on learned helplessness of secondary vocational student.This study was divided into two parts, include theoretical and empirical studies.The first part is the theory research, mainly introduces the learned helplessness,achievement goal orientation and academic self-efficacy’s theory, measurement toolsand related research. The second part is empirical research, study811secondaryvocational students in Changzhou as subjects, using questionnaire testing methods,detail analysis the status of learned helplessness, achievement goal orientation andacademic self-efficacy, and its relationships, and further investigated the achievementgoal orientation, academic self-efficacy on learned helplessness and academicself-efficacy’s intermediary role. Comprehensive the results of this study, we have thefollowing conclusions:1. Secondary vocational student have a middle level of learned helplessness,mainly displays in four aspects of cognition, attribution, emotion and behavior.Learned helplessness in gender, subject categories and source of student aresignificant differences, there is no significant difference in the grade.2. Learned helpless and performance approach goal orientation, performanceavoidance goal orientation, mastery approach goal orientation have significantnegative correlation, there is no significant difference between learned helplessnessand mastery avoidance goal orientation. Mastery approach goal orientation,performance approach goal orientation, performance avoidance goal orientation onlearned helplessness has certain prediction.3. Academic self-efficacy in the secondary vocational school student masteryapproach goal orientation affect learning helplessness play part of intermediary role,academic self-efficacy in the secondary vocational school student performance approach goal orientation affect learning helplessness play fully intermediary role.Based on the research conclusion, put forward the following suggestion:Vocational education should establish positive educational goal, form the correcteducational expectations, create positive psychological qualities, determine thepositive goal orientation, guide the helplessness of vocational students, improve theiracademic self-efficacy and learning enthusiasm.
