A Translation Report On An Outline Of Mao Zedong Thought And The Theoretical System Of Socialism With Chinese Characteristics

These translation materials are a part of my tutor’s translation projects. The book is titled An Outline of Mao Zedong Thought and the Theoretical System of Socialism with Chinese Characteristics, and has comprehensively elaborated the forming and developing process of Marxism in China, and lines, principles and policies of the construction of socialism with Chinese characteristics. With distinct stylistic features, the book belongs to the material of political essays. The targeted readers are international students in China and the translation aim is to help them know about the main contents of this book.This translation report has collected examples from the translation materials and analyzed them so as to explore translation methods of political essays. This translation report is made up of six parts. The first is an introduction of this report. The second part describes the translation task, and the third part describes the translation process including translation methods and translation plan. The fourth part presents the specific translation case analysis; for instance, it deals with the translation errors that frequently appear in this translation process, and then it provides the theoretical support and solutions. The paper pays attention to the analysis of vocabulary and sentence, including complex and rhetoric sentences. The fifth part summarizes this translation practice and provides some unsettled problems. During the translation process, the references to authoritative sources and the translation aims should be paid attention to. The last part is the conclusion of the whole report. Based on the translation of several chapters of An Outline of Mao Zedong Thought and the Theoretical System of Socialism with Chinese Characteristics, this paper has collected examples from the translation materials and analyzed them so as to explore translation methods of political essays, which will be conducive to translation of political essays in the future.
