A Report On The Translation Of Women Political Leaders (Chapter Five)

The translation material is an excerpt from Women Political Leaders (Chapter Five). This part describes the early experiences of some women political leaders in the world, which can be divided into “Parental Political Activities”,“The Father/Daughter Relationship”,“The Mother/Daughter Relationship”,“Sibling Relationships” and “Conclusion”. The language is formal.The whole report fell into four parts as follows: Translation task description, translation process, case analysis, the summary of reflections on the translation. The author made some preparations before translating, searching for the related information about the material. According to the characteristics of the material, literal translation was given priority while free translation is complementary. In the case analysis, the author gave examples of three kinds of translation difficulties and discussed thinking process and translation skills at the lexical level, syntax level and discourse level. The report concluded with author’s feelings and introspection, as well as the qualities of a good translator.
