Moment in Peking is an immortal work of Mr. Lin Yutang, which occupies a decisiveposition in the fields of literature home and abroad. Mr. Lin established a model that Chinesewriter told a story in English with his proficient writing skills to finish this great work and hecreated particular literature characteristic in Moment in Peking. It’s a pity that Mr. Lin didn’tfinish the translation work of the novel himself, but several translation versions appeared afterthat including the most popular versions of Zhang Zhenyu’s Jing Hua Yan Yun and Yu Fei’sShun Xi Jing Hua. Therefore it will be more persuadable to choose these two versionscombined with polysystem theory to research. The thesis is divided into five sections. Section One is the part of literature review.Firstly I made a brief overview of the polysystem theory and research status review home andabroad, and then I explained the research status review of the original work and its translationversions. In Section Two I set forth the part of the theory in details including ItamaEven-Zohar’s polysystem theory and Toury’s translation norms. Section Three is the part oftext analysis, which analyzed the polyphyly characteristics of the author and source text. InSection Four I introduced the two translators and their translation versions and then gaveexamples of translation strategies that the translation versions used from macroscopic view. InSection Five, I tried to find the difference between the two versions from microscopic viewwith the examples from language culture, material culture and spiritual culture.
