Application Of Bel Canto Coloratura Singing To Chinese Vocal Works

Abstract:With a long history and being deep rooted, the art of bel canto coloratura originated in the heyday of bel canto. Then, it has gradually developed and became mature over years. Based on the study on the origin of bel canto coloratura at the beginning, this paper has a positive impact on Chinese vocal music and vocal works. The writer aims at displaying the understanding of bel canto coloratura grasped during one year of postgraduate study, which will play an active role in guiding the future work. Research methodology employs exemplification and comparison and so on. In recent years, bel canto coloratura has become increasingly important in Chinese vocal works with emergence of many remarkable composers and popular works. Also, a certain of proportion of Chinese coloratura works appeared in the writer’s solo concert. Thus, making research on these classical vocal works is necessary to prepare for the future work. It is a natural trend that Chinese vocal music should face the world with diversification. Art should let a hundred flowers bloom and a hundred schools of thoughts contend. So, coloratura will actively promote the development of Chinese vocal music in future.
