This thesis analyzes the generation process of the academic novels and elaborates thewriters’ narrative strategies for different writing purposes according to the collegeintellectual images in the academic novels since1900s. The thesis finally draws thatacademic novel is not only a vehicle of achieving the writer’s self-identity but also away to affect the reality. It serves for the construction of different identity no matterwhat kind of writing pattern and aesthetics way the writer choose. Therefore, theresearch on the academic novels since1900s provides a further way to understand theliving situation and identity crisis of the college intellectuals. Furthermore, it isconducive to understand the self-reflection and inherent difficulties of the creativesubject. Then maybe can offer a new perspective of the spiritual world of the collegeintellectuals.
