A Translation Report On The Introduction Of Well Logging Devices In A Petroleum Company Of China

This report is based on the author’s translation practice of material from a petroleumcompany of China: the Introduction of Well Logging Instrument. In order to appeal to foreignclients’ interests, and develop as many overseas markets as possible, the company digs its wayto build a good company image so that it can make a lot of profits. Thus whether the Chineseintroduction material can be converted into a good English translation text is very important.This paper consists of four major parts: task description, process description, case study andconclusion. Firstly, the author makes a general analysis of the target reader and the style of theoriginal material. Then the author offers the process description part which includestranslation preparation and theory research. Thirdly, in the case analysis part, under theguidance of Newmark’s text typology and German functionalist translation approach, andcombines with several examples selected from the material, the author chooses suchtranslation strategies as lateral translation, zero translation, omission, and adaption, to achievean accurate and objective English version.
