A Report Of E-C Translation Of The Kaleidoscope Of Imagination From The Perspective Of Text Typology

This report is about the translation of the script The Kaleidoscope of Imagination from English to Chinese.The translation project was commissioned by Ori Pictures Co.,Ltd.,a distributor and producer of films located in Suzhou.The Kaleidoscope of Imagination is a photographic script,which also belongs to children's literature.It describes a series of story when the protagonist Michael and his families moved to a gray world and his brother George got lost.Chapter one introduces the basic information of the translation project,the translation specifications and the background of the report.The second chapter of the report is the literature review,which introduces text typology and three types of texts: informative,expressive and operative and also introduces the research status of script translation.Chapter three analyzes the features of the script from lexical,syntactic and textual levels and the analysis shows that the script is a hybrid text with both the features of informative text and expressive text.According to different text types,different translation methods and techniques are employed in the translation process and the fourth chapter selects the examples from lexical,syntactic and textual levels,and provides a detailed analysis and elaboration of those examples.The last chapter is the summary of this report,which summarizes the experience and the limitation,and also gives suggestions for the future related study.
