With the rapid development of economic globalization and the continuous deepening of the Belt and Road Initiative,Chinese enterprises are increasingly involved in bidding activities for overseas projects. The translation of bidding documents arouses extensive public concern and is of greater importance. The accuracy of translation is considered to determine the success of bidding. This translation report is based on the 21,000-word English bidding documents for logging services of X Petroleum Co.Ltd in Pakistan, which mainly covers four sections: TECHNICAL BID,FINANCIAL BID,EVALUATION /SELECTION CRITERIA and DRAFT CONTRACT.The bidding documents clarify tendering requirements of all aspects and the rights and obligations of both parties, which is of important reference value for bidding activities.Based on the relevant theoretical research and its application, this report tries to study the translation of bidding documents under the guidance of Newmark's Text Typology Theory. The communicative translation method is mainly employed to make the translation faithfully and accurately convey the original information.Meanwhile,it attaches importance to the communicative function and emphasizes the effectiveness of target readers in receiving target information. This report systematically expounds the stylistic features of English bidding documents from lexical, syntactic and discourse levels.Through case study,it sums up the problems encountered in the translation process and discusses the corresponding translation methods of bidding documents. It is expected to provide certain reference for the standardized translation of bidding documents, and further expands the significance of Text Typology Theory in bidding translation and provides a preliminary reference for the study of bidding documents translation for petroleum projects.
