The Study On The Structure Of Work Volition Among College Students And Its Relationship With Relevant Factors

This research discussed the implicit model of the structure of work volition andits related factors in China, using positive method of OB，such as survey investigation.Based on literature studying, interview and open-questionnaires, we collected scaleitems which formed the initial scale. We revised these through pretest and itemanalysis, and finally got the formal scale of work volition. And then, giving out thequestionnaires, we got a four-factor model of work volition, by exploratory factoranalysis and confirmatory factor analysis. We also discussed the relationshipbetweenwork volition and its related variables by regressionanalysis.Theconclusionsareasfollows:(1)The implicit model of the structure of work volition is comprised of fourdimensions, namely Competency volition, Environment volition,Developmentvolition, and Finance volition. The reliability and validity of the scales meet the stand.(2)Results of regression analysis suggested that, firstly, positive coping stylehadsignificant positive effect on work volition. Secondly,work volitionhad significantpositive effect on life satisfaction. Thirdly,work volitionhad significant positive effecton career decision self-efficacy.(3) Results of hierarchical regression analysis suggested that, firstly,the effectbetween work volition and life satisfaction was partially mediated by career decisionself-efficacy. Secondly, social support significantly moderated the relationshipbetween work volition and life satisfaction. Work volitionwas more stronglyassociated with life satisfaction when college students’social support was high.(4) Results ofone-way ANOVA and T test suggested that, firstly, there weresignificant gender and origindifferences in environmental volition. Secondly, therewere total family income differences in competency volition and financial volition.
