Interpretation has been increasingly important in bridging people fromdifferent countries. All too often, interpreters are confronted with listeningcomprehension barriers. Listening is the precondition of interpreting. Therefore, there’s no interpreting without listening. However, listening comprehension is acomplex, dynamic and rather fragile process, bringing great difficulties tointerpreters for its instantaneity, complexity and unpredictability. Many factors cancause listening problems, such as the speaker’s accent, the flow of speech, numbersand so on.There were some researches in this aspect home and abroad before, whichdiscussed about barriers of listening in interpretation from a certain perspective andwhich were not comprehensive enough. Especially, there are few researches orstudies on the listening comprehension problems for MTI students. Therefore, thisreport aims at exploring listening barriers for MTI students and proposing propertraining patterns for them to overcome those barriers.
