This is a translation project report of Scarcity: Why Having Too Little Means So Much(Chapter Six) by Sendhil Mullainathan, an economics professor from Harvard University and Eldar Shafir, a psychology professor from Princeton University. Chapter six: “Scarcity Trap” mainly describes the phenomenon of scarcity trap, its cause, the relationship between people’s behavior and scarcity trap and the way to get out of scarcity trap. This report consists of three chapters, an introduction and a conclusion. The introduction part includes background information and significance of the project. Chapter one analyzes the source text,including information about authors, the source text and analysis of the source text.Chapter Two lists three translation difficulties; they are terms, metaphor and long sentences. Chapter Three mainly concerns translation methods, including preparation,translation strategy and translation methods in accordance with translation difficulties listed in Chapter Two. Conclusion part is a conclusion of this practice and the lesion learned.
