This is a translation project report. The source text is chapter 2 of Investing in Women′s Employment: Good for Business, Good for Development published by IFC. The source text was written by Kirsten Newitt and Alastair Usher of Ergon Associates, and Ariane Hegewisch of the Institute for Women′s Policy Research.By analyzing many business cases, it reveals issues women faced in their employment and shares a lot of experience and advice on management and recruitment. It helps to remind companies to realize the importance of women’s employment and promote gender equality in workplace. It analyzes business cases in detail which is worthy of translating.The report consists of four chapters. Chapter One is an introduction to the background, objectives,significance of the project and report structures. Chapter Two is about the research background, including the introduction to the theoretic background for this project and the background of source text. Chapter Three highlights the difficulties and methods of the translation. Major difficulties are English proper nouns, long sentences and expression style. Under the guidance of Reiss’ s text typology, the translator uses transliteration, word-adding, reverse translation and combined translation to tackle the difficulties. Detailed analyses of typical examples are provided here. Chapter Four concludes the report by discussing the gains, the lessons and the unresolved problems.
