This is a translation report on the first chapter of This Changes Everything:Capitalism vs the Climate, published by Simon & Schuster on September 16, 2014.This is the most important book from the Canadian journalist and social activist,Naomi Klein, author of the international bestseller, The Shock Doctrine. The book clearly explains why western capitalist countries must soon abandon core free market ideology, restructure the global economy, and remake the political systems to tackle the ever increasingly serious climate change. This project focuses on the first chapter, which comprehensively analyzes western public attitudes towards climate change and challenges facing the world in terms of combating climate change. This report consists of four chapters: Chapter One is the project introduction, including the background, objectives, significance and framework. Chapter Two is the text background introduction, including the translation theory, the introduction of the author and the content. Chapter Three mainly summarizes the translation theory, text type analysis, translation difficulties, which lie in the stylistic features, linguistic features, and solving methods, such as division, addition and omission, conversion, and so on to deal with the passive voice, complex and long sentences. In the end, Part Four includes afterthoughts, experiences and unsolved problems.
