This is a translation project report on the translation of Caffeine in Food and Dietary Supplements. This report takes the functionalist skopos theory as its theoretical basis. Through translation process study and in – depth analysis on typical cases from the project, the author has put forward equifunctional translation, heterofunctional translation, and interlineal translation in the text translation to have a proper translation activity and also given suggestions on other operational issues occurred in the transition practice.This report is divided into four parts: Part One is an introduction of this translation project report. Part Two is the background of the study, including the theory basis and an introduction of the source text. Functional skopos theory of translation is used to guide this project report. Part Three is about translation difficulties and methods. Equifunctional translation, heterofunctional translation, interlineal translation, conversion and philological translation are used in the translation practice. Part Four concludes with the lessons, implication and unsolved problems in the translation.This report aims to summarize the translation project so that it may provide reference on concrete operation for translation practices of similar kind. Most importantly, it illustrates that in the translation of informative text, a proper choice in translation is vital to achieving intended text functions and communicative purposes.
