In the development of individuals, the emotion is regarded as the core force of continuous development during the whole life of individuals. Children aged 4-7 are prone to promote conflict situations and strong emotional reactions due to their physiological and psychological characteristics. If regulation strategies could not be chosen properly, it is likely to make children at a disadvantage situation in peer relation and cause poor social skills and difficulties of social adjustment. As parents play an important role on children’s social interaction and have rich emotional interaction and communication with children, their reactions to children’s negative emotions directly affect children’s choices on emotional strategies. Therefore, understanding children’s emotion regulation types and development characteristics, as well as the influences of parents reactive mode to children’s emotion regulation strategies, has great significance on the formation of promoting children’s positive emotion regulation ability and maintaining children’s mental health.Negative emotions is an important part of the emotional and children’s negative emotion regulation is an important issue that teachers and parents concerned about.So this study explores children’s negative emotion regulation strategies and its relationship with parents reaction mode.This study selected a total of 180 children from middle class and senior class of kindergarten and students in Grade 1, concluding 60 of each grade. The type of children’s emotion regulation strategies were determined by the establishment of Teachers Assessment Questionnaire of 4- 7 years old Children’s Emotion Regulation. Then we use Teacher Assessment Questionnaire and Questionnaire of Parents’ reactive mode to Children’s Negative Emotion to explore the characteristics of both children’s emotion regulation strategies and parents reactive mode to children’s negative emotion and the relationship between these two factors. Through data statistical analysis by SPSS 21.0 and AMOS17.0, we got the following conclusions:1.Through the factor analysis, 4- 7 year old children’s emotion regulation strategies have six different kinds: vent emotional regulation strategies, alternative activities, problem solving, cognitive restructuring, self-comforting, interpersonal support;2.4- 7 year old children most often use cognitive restructuring strategy and interpersonal support strategy, and rarely use vent strategy;3.Vent, cognitive restructuring, self-comforting, alternative activities strategies have significant differences on age, the vent emotional regulation strategies gradually reduced with the growth of age; cognitive restructuring strategies gradually increased with the growth of age; self-comforting strategies and alternative activities strategies changed with the changes of children’s educational environment4.There are significantly gender differences in the vent strategies. It is easier for boys to adopt the vent strategy;5.Mothers show more supportive response than fathers when facing children’s negative emotions;6.The parents’ reaction to children’s negative emotion is more likely to show punishing response with the growth of children’s age.7. Parents reactive mode to children negative emotion can predict children’s emotional regulation strategies.According to the conclusions of the study, researchers put forward education suggestions for adult, which are better to assist and guide children to express their emotions and regulate emotions, and to promote the harmonious development of children physically and mentally as well.
