Chinese characters are not only the cultural treasure of the Chinese nation, but are also the symbol of the extensive and profound Chinese culture. It is the carrier and outstanding part of Chinese culture. Chinese people especially attach great importance to the Chinese character writing education. The Chinese character writing education has existed thousands of years. In the Western Zhou Dynasty, children’s education is divided into “rituals, music, shoot, royal, book and number”, which are known as the “six arts”. The writing training of Chinese character is included in the "book" subject. Chinese character writing is always an indispensable foundation course in no matter the public or private education until 21 century. However, with the coming of the "keyboard era", the practicability of the Chinese character writing is being decreased. Besides, the frequency of the Chinese characters also decreases, the Chinese character writing ability is also gradually degraded, “starting to write but forget the words" frequently occurred. In fact, the writing ability will lead to the fault of culture and the absence of Chinese traditional culture. Therefore, in the era of "keyboard", the Chinese character writing ability needs to be strengthened more, rather than be ignored and left out.The research is based on“the Dictation Assembly of Chinese Characters" to argue the dictation situation of those players. The author analyzes those middle school students’ writing fault from three aspects: first, the analysis on the content of the words; second, the analysis on the level of Chinese characters; third, the analysis on the kinds of the wrong Chinese characters. Thus, the author provides some suggestions for middle school students’ Chinese characters teaching which are based on the results of the analysis.The author has used the method of observation method, literature research method, statistical analysis method, and some other research methods in this thesis. This thesis concludes four parts.The first part mainly introduces the significance and the research status of selected topic. Besides, it defines the concept of Chinese characters reading and writing ability in this thesis.The second part analyzes the wrong words which the players have written in “the Dictation Assembly of Chinese Characters”, mainly from the following three aspects: perspective of content words, Chinese characters level, and wrong character type. The author comes up with a statistical analysis of results: the error rate of idiom class word is higher, the word error rate of secondary and tertiary characters higher. In addition, this paper further expounds the reasons of the above analysis results.The third part is based on the result of second part. The author puts forward some suggestions for the current Chinese characters’ teaching in middle school, hoping to bring some reflection on middle school students’ Chinese character teaching.The last part is the conclusion of this thesis. The author summarizes the full thesis, and points out that the deficiency in the research.The author also points out the direction for future study.
