The attribute of Chinese character refers to all kinds of information that Chinesecharacter contained. The paper takes the basic table of knowing and writing chinesecharacters which is from the Chinese curriculum standards of compulsory education in2011as the object of study, to analyze the attribute of Chinese character detailedly andrationally form two aspects: intrinsic properties and application properties of Chinesecharacter.Chinese character is an ideogram and has a strong expressive ability. Chinesecharacter is a combination of character pattern, pronunciation and meaning. The intrinsicproperties of Chinese character refer to the attribute on character pattern, pronunciationand meaning that the Chinese character itself inherent. Analyzing the intrinsic properties ofChinese character is mainly about three aspects of character pattern, pronunciation andmeaning by using methods of description research, statistics, comparative analysis andclassification analysis. Analysis about the character pattern includes the evolution ofChinese character form, the structure of Chinese character and the formation of Chinesecharacter. Analysis about the character pronunciation includes the situation of syllable,homophone and polyphone. Analysis about the meaning of Chinese character includes theseparation of meanings and the change of meaning.Chinese character is a written symbol system to record Chinese language and a kindof the most important auxiliary communication tool, it has been applied in all aspects ofsocial life. With the enlargement of the application scope of Chinese character, theattributes of Chinese character in addition to the Chinese character itself inherent attributesin character pattern, pronunciation and meaning, including some attributes which weregenerated in the process of using Chinese character, namely application properties ofChinese character. Analyzing the application properties of Chinese character is mainlyabout the ability to constitute other Chinese characters, the ability to compose the wordsand the methods to search Chinese characters by using the means of description research, statistics and classification analysis.
