Until 1980s, emotional regulation has becoming a relatively independent research in the field of development of psychology and has be achieved. Ways and means of emotional regulation are varied, in addition to its own regulation and expression of cognitive strategies which obtain more attention recently, whether regulate emotions by the action of other external forces could weaken the negative emotions effectively better or not.Human’s primitive labor create music, gives music rhythm, rhythm as the pulse of music and reflects the sense of beauty in music movement, stability and consistency which between the structural elements of rhythm is the internal cause to keep the music continued movement.The relationship between music and emotion is old and closely, the research of relationship has not only great theoretical significance, but there are important practical significance and place, such as music therapy, music education and so on. Music has many features, including melody, harmony, pitch, rhythm, music mainly through these features to affect people’s emotions, until now there are some scientific research and empirical research about the impact of melody, tuning, speed characteristics of music to 1 emotion. However, other features of the music on the emotional impact of research is still in its infancy.Through the study of existing properties on the emotional impact of music, we discover that are based on the melody as the stimulus material, then study and analyze the influence of emotion by certain factors related to the rhythm, the results follow a effect of emotion of pitch feature inevitably. Therefore, this study will retain the rhythm of the melody, through the psychological positive and negative emotions scales, using emotion regulation strategies of correcting situation, to research the impact on college students negative emotions-sadness regulation by rhythmic structure, aims to provide some reference to the methods and theories of psychology applications in the future, which through the emotion regulation theory research of most basic elements of music rhythm.This paper consists of the following five components:Ⅰ. Introduction. A brief description of the purpose and significance of this study,Ⅱ Theoretical basis. The study’s main task is to find research contents which are not involved from the existing situation and the conclusions in the research, to find innovation point and breakthrough point, to establish a strong theoretical support, to provide assumptions, methods and tools for empirical research. First, summarized the research status of rhythms and emotions, presented the concept of rhythmic structure and explain its definition and the relationship between internal elements, divided rhythmic structure into groups according to the relationship between the structure of the rhythm, then combed theory development, emotion regulation strategies and methods, to study the influence of rhythm on emotion (sad negative) regulation based on the situational modified theory, which use of psychological experiment, subjective experience methodⅢ. Empirical research. This is the main empirical part of this study, include preliminary experiments and experiments two parts. Preliminary experiments selected rhythm structural materials and subjects, choose arousal, reliability and high titers of rhythm structure fragments, tested the music professional and non-professional students of southwest university who tend to positive emotions in recent time. Formal experiments have been tried first by video evoked sadness, measuring the mood of positive and negative scores, then use strategy for its adjustment, measuring the mood of positive and negative scores again, the difference of post-test and pre-test is the role of regulation value. One experiment will compare the results of corrected situation by rhythm structure and evoked sadness, to study the impact degree of rhythm structure to emotion regulation and the of difference between the sexes;the second experiment will divide the rhythm structure into groups according to their feature relationships, to research the impact on the relationship between the different elements of rhythmic structure of emotional regulation.IV. General discussion. To investigate the analysis results and problems of this study, based on the above theoretical, analysis and discuss experimental results generally. Analysis innovation point, value and inadequate point of this study.Conclusion:The rhythm structure can affect emotion regulation, for regulating negative sad emotions has a certain degree of influence; in the context of regulation of rhythm structure amendments, music professional subjects than non-music major subjects has a good effect adjustment; in music major women than men are more susceptible to the impact of the emotion regulation of rhythm structure, the conclusion on the contrary in non-music majors; rhythmic structure with dense relations, Fang Zheng shape, when distance is short, consistent pronunciation points has better regulation of negative emotion sadness for students, professional music than non-music major who regulate the degree stronger; three beat rhythm structure is not conducive to students sad negative emotion regulation, it will greatly diminish its positive emotions instead.
