Study On Cultural Change Of Yulin Ditty

Traditional folk art is a significant component of Chinese traditional culture. As one of the forms of Northern Shaanxi Traditional Folk Art, Yulin Ditty which is the evidence of multicultural integration in Northern Shaanxi was listed in the first national nonmaterial cultural heritage list. It’s also the only existing folk music in Ming and Qing Dynasties. The article intends to promote the inheritance and development of contemporary Yulin Ditty by studying its cultural change.Yulin is located to the south of Hetao, boarding on the Inner Mongolia Steppe. Unique civilization of frontier fortress generated because of its geographical conditions, history and multicultural background. During Ming and Qing Dynasties, Yulin was one of the "Nine Frontier Fortresses" in North China and the political, military and cultural center of Northern Shaanxi, which had a tradition that appointed officials who was born in South China. Not only the troops (mostly were born in the South) were brought here by officials and generals, but also the value, way of thinking, culture and entertainment. Consequently, Yulin Ditty came into being in this multicultural environment.The article studies Yulin Ditty as a case of folk art via the view of Cultural Change, which includes 5 parts. The first is Introduction. And then, the author summarizes the theory of cultural change. In the third part, Cultural Change of Yulin Ditty has been interpreted. Next are the causations of the change. In the end, the paper reflects on the cultural change.It could turn the researchers’ as well as the whole society’s attention to the Yulin Ditty and the traditional folk art by focusing on its cultural change, excavating how it influences local people’s life, value, aesthetics and way of thinking, which can provides an excellent social environment for the inheritance and development of Yulin Ditty. In a word, as a kind of "Special Civil Music", Yulin Ditty is not only closely related to social life, but also an important part of Northern Shaanxi Traditional Folk Art.
