Children’s fantasy fiction originated in Europe at late 18th century and early 19th century, and thrived in 20th century, has become a very important and dominant children’s literature genre over the world. But it is also one of the most late developed literature genres in China. The progress of domestic and abroad fictional literature has successfully expedited the birth of China’s own children’s fantasy fictions, a literature phenomenon later radiating its significance following the awakening of localized creation and theoretical research by the end of 20th Century. In recent years, domestic children’s literatus begins to pay close attention to this field of various subjects, but still opens new approaches to make a deep study.This essay defines faerie as the starting point. Faerie, which refers to the world of children’s fantasy fictions, symbolizes one of the core conceptions in fantasy genre. This essay takes faerie as the angle to approach this literature genre. On the one hand, it makes efforts to clarify this genre clearly by laying eyes on China’s localized the New-Period children’s fantasy fictions. On the other hand, this essay has analyzed and summarized the gains and losses of China’s localized the New-Period children’s fantasy fictions through the angle of faerie.This essay has been divided into three gradationally parts as follows:classifying the localized Chinese faeries, deliberating on features of Chinese faerie, then analyzing its space images. In the first chapter, the author has initially attempted to classify the localized Chinese faeries, according to the previous views. And using the graphical representations to make the features and differences clear. In Chapter 2, the author has deliberated on features of Chinese faerie in light of its prototypes with an insight on certain drawbacks during its progress, and analyze the existed problems. Chapter 3 has taken a brand-new angle to regard faerie as a whole complex space and analyze its spatial connotation, writers’ideals and children’s mental space in the perspective of typical landscape space. Finally point out the culturally and literaturaly positive role played by the construction of Chinese faerie.Noticeably, this essay has managed to present a brand-new angle and research method for children’s fantasy fictions study, and put emphasis on close reading and analyzing, presenting a lot of original standpoints, thus as a whole, adding fresh vigor to the increasingly thriving field of Chinese children’s fantasy fictions study.
