Practice Study Report On C-E Translation Of Technical Specifications On Civil Construction Bid For A WB Project

The original text of this practice study report is a part of the bidding document, technical specifications on civil construction bid for line 2 of WB project in Nanchang, when the author worked in Xi’an Yizai Translation Service Limited Company as an intern translator from July,2013 to June,2014. The author excerpts one part, i.e. its Chapter 300:Structural Engineering, to carry out this report.The author mainly uses Nida’s theory of "Functional Equivalence" as a guide in this translation practice. The author starts from difficulties; such as professional vocabulary on civil construction, null-subject sentence in the original text and compound sentence in it, shows translation case analysis and takes proper translation methods and skills to deal with these difficulties on the basis of experience of the author in translating similar texts.The author deepens the understanding of civil construction document and correspondingly improves translation level through this translation practice, which will give valuable experience in translating similar documents to the author in future.
