A Practice Report Of Translating The Bid Document Of Construction Of Balog Storage Dam

As the continuous promotion of The Belt and Road Initiative in recent years,cooperation and exchanges among countries along the road have become increasingly close.Therefore,EST(English for Science and Technology)and its translation have an extremely important effect in exchanges between China and foreign countries.Meanwhile,as the guide and legal basis of all the bidding activities,the bidding documents also play a key role in effectively promoting The Belt and Road Initiative and reducing communication barriers.However,in the current translation study of science and technology in China,there are few tender translation studies in a particular field,especially those involving bid documents such as international project tenders.Moreover,traditional translation theories have not kept up with the development of science and technology.Translation strategies often ignore the pragmatic level,and the translation of the original which oriented vocabulary level is often obscure.Therefore,the author combines the functional equivalence theory with the tender translation practice report,adopting appropriate translation methods and striving to complete the task of tender translation on the basis of professionalism and accuracy.Engineering texts have the characteristics of language objectivity and conciseness,whose purpose of it is to transmit authentic and effective information.Therefore,guided by equivalence theory,this report discusses three principles of "equivalence","coherence" and"accuracy" to be followed in translation practice,priority should be given to functional equivalence,and the style of bid documents would be attached importance to achieve a balance between formal equivalence and functional equivalence,and thus to analyze the cases with translation strategies of engineering texts in the practice in accordance with the problems that need to be solved and the difficulties encountered in translation process.
