Translation Report On Evaluating Obesity Prevention Efforts: A Plan For Measuring Progress(Extract)

In recent years, with the rapid development of social economy, people’s living standard has been improved greatly and their pace of life has been quickened. Thus, many people tend to take fast food and beverage as their main diet. Since such dietary habit makes many people exposed to health risks of obesity, it is imperative to improve people’s health consciousness. This translation material is from the book Evaluating Obesity Prevention Efforts: A Plan for Measuring Progress, in which the third chapter mainly introduces the framework for evaluating the obesity prevention efforts and its components, as well as plans, suggestions and strategies for obesity prevention at different levels. Translating such material is of some practical significance for its role to improve people’s health consciousness. The author completed the translation report based on the translation of the third chapter.To ensure the high quality of the translation, the author has carefully read the original text especially the third chapter before translating. The author searched relevant information on the internet, such as the language style of evaluation report, and borrowed books on translation theory to guide this translation practice. The author mainly adopted literal translation in the process of translation, and used both print dictionary and network dictionary to ensure the accuracy of the translation.The thesis consists of three parts: the translation report, the original text and the translated version. The translation report includes task description, translation process, case analysis and the summary of the translation practice. Case analysis is the core of the report, mainly covering difficulties at vocabulary, syntax and discourse levels. Finally, the author summaries the translation practice and makes some suggestions.
