In recent years, a lot of research has been conducted around the characteristics of selective attention between top learners and poor students. The researchers have generally concluded that top learners and poor students showed significant differences in completing inattentional tasks. Recently, the difference between top learners and poor students mainly focus on the selective attention in these aspects such as inhibition mechanism or priming effect. The expert who called Jin Zhicheng makes full use of the positive and negative starting technology and Stroop to name tasks in order to investigate the characteristics of two classes of students in the target activation and distraction. In addition, he found top learners’ inhibition of distraction is much better than the poor students and poor ones are highly vulnerable to the interference of distraction. The purpose of this article aims to use the dynamic inattentional blindness paradigm and its main influencing factors(perceptual loading and the significance of extraneous stimulation) to explore and compare the difference in mechanism between top learners and poor students. Apart from these, the article tries to explore the reasons of the differences. In experiment 1, the researcher controls the perceptual loading level to explore the inattentional blindness of top learners and poor students. In experiment 2, the researcher controls the extraneous stimulation level to explore the inattentional blindness of these students. The results showed again that the perceptual loading level and the significance of extraneous stimulation are the key factors that affect inattentional blindness. Under the conditions of low perceptual loading, due to the ceiling effect, there was no significant difference between top learners and poor students. While in high loading conditions, it is higher of top learners than the poor students. On the contrary, the difference between these two classes is significant. Under the condition of the high level, the difference is not significant because of the negative face attention. The results are consistent with previous results; top learners and poor students have significant difference in the selective attention. Compared with poor students, top learners are more concentrated and not easy to be distracted. What’s more, we further find the difference of mechanism is not innate and it depends by the acquired factors.
