Since the 21st century, Chinese has been enjoying vigorous development, as more and more countries made effort to promote Chinese language. In 2003, the first batch of Chinese teachers was appointed to work in Thailand. From then on, an increasing number of Chinese teachers join the team. Therefore, how to better adapt to the local education directly affects the effective Chinese teaching.Based on a brief introduction to education system, particularly higher education system in Thailand and an analysis that combines the author’s personal teaching experience from perspectives of college management, courses and specialties setting, entrance examination, test and credits system, this paper summarizes some Chinese teaching strategies for different Chinese learner in Thailand.Local education system and policy will affect the teaching activities directly. Therefore, a better understanding of related system and policy can be necessary so as to achieve teaching objectives. Thailand’s education system and foreign language teaching system in modern times have been groping its way and keep adjusting due to political factors in particular. In this case, the adopted Chinese teaching strategies are of great significance. Chinese teaching should not only adapt to local students but also to adapt to the local system policy.Hence, a comparison of higher education system and policy between China and Thailand was made to sum up the influence of education system on foreign language teaching in terms of teaching, teaching materials and other aspects. The Chinese foreign language education pay more attention to teaching style, teaching key is the knowledge of the language, while Thailand’s foreign language education focuses on language learning skills, communication skills to each culture from the aspects of perception. At the same time, the education system in Thailand has influence on Chinese language teaching process, textbook selection and other aspects, Thailand Chinese class has no fixed uniform materials, and there is no unified teaching syllabus. Therefore, each university’s goal of Chinese teaching is a different, Chinese course’s nature are different, the focus and strategy of Chinese teaching is not the same. Then through the actual teaching analysis this paper offers some advice and help for the Chinese teacher to be to better adapt to Thailand educational system such as how to organize teaching activities, take appropriate teach strategies to improve teaching effects.
