Lu Xun's writing was first introduced to the people of Thailand during a time of Thailand internal political conflict. At that time in Thailand, his writing became rapidly recognized among Thai society. As a result of the political consequence, some of Lu Xun's writings were declared forbidden by the Thailand government. This action directly and immensely influenced the popularity of Lu Xun's writings. Although the Thai government later abolished the aforementioned law forbidding Lu Xun's works it never regained its prior status or popularity. The resolution of political disputes had already shifted the interest of Thai society away from Lu Xun's writings.Furthermore, he was eulogized as "the most successful pioneer of modern Chinese literature". The high status of Lu Xun has been compared and said to be equal to that of William Shakespeare. Therefore, in Thailand, students majoring in Chinese are required to study Lu Xun's writings. As mentioned before, it is considered imperative for Chinese studies in Thailand to cultivate and instill within students majoring in Chinese to understand such concerns and be able to truly appreciate his writings. During my research process, I found that there are several reasons contributing to the difficulty of studying Lu Xun's writings. The major problems can be divided into 5 different categories, which are:student's knowledge and Chinese level; student's comprehension ability; difficult points of understanding Lu Xun's writing; instructor teaching method; the difficulty of selecting suitable topics and the lack of a comprehensive approach to Lu Xun's writings. This paper proposes two teaching methods, namely the Unit Teaching Method and "Deductive Learning" teaching method (borrowed from the Ausubel Model), to resolve those problems in studying Lu Xun's literature. The Unit Teaching Method emphasizes students develop and possess a wide-range of knowledge. Using this method, instructors will not focus on only one particular subject, but will instead introduce students to a broad range of relevant subjects at the same time. The Deductive Learning Teaching Method puts an emphasis on the deduction process and the connection between the learner's existing knowledge and the new information being learnt. The deduction process is achieved by learning from the "broad perspective to specific perspective". The Unit Teaching Method and the Deductive Learning Teaching Model not only promote an approach to learning that is mutually centered on both student and teacher, but also encourages students' creativity and critical thinking skills. Both teaching methods are believed to enhance the traditional Thai style of "passive learning", and consequently improve student's attitudes toward studying Lu Xun's writings. In terms of learning content, many of Lu Xun's writings are available. However, in Thailand, some of Lu Xun's most representative writings have been selected to be included in the study of Modern Chinese Literature. This paper will evaluate and suggest those writings suitable for Thai students majoring in Chinese.
