Report On E-C Translation Of Global International Packaging Requirements For Production Parts

As we all know, the text on science and technology is an important medium for spreading technological achievements, helping technicians improve the process and promoting technology innovation. The translation of the text on Science and technology will contribute to the introduction of advanced scientific and technological achievements, promoting technical exchanges and accelerating the improvement of the backward process. This thesis will make packing instruction manual used in component packaging factory of the automobile industry as a source text for translation. This instruction manual is highly valued by the managers as the automobile quality is directly related to the supply, packaging, production of automobile parts. If such instruction manuals are used in domestic packing factory, it will greatly enhance the production efficiency, reducing working hours and the cost of transportation.The instruction manual has the same language features of common text on science and technology: logic, concise language, more usage on compound sentence terminology and vocabulary of packaging industry. In the process of translation, the author has met the following problems: It is usually difficult to find the corresponding Chinese expression for obscure professional words and the literal translation would not work; If literally translating the logical compound sentence, the expression are not appropriate and have poor readability; The source text has more charts and data causing complicated translation operation. Therefore, through the detailed analysis of the characteristics of the source and adopting translation standards of "faithfulness, expressiveness", the author did multi query references and ask for professional people to explain and confirm the expression in the translation of proper vocabulary and make the translation of words more appropriate; As for the translation of complex sentence, by using such translation techniques of "conversion method, merge-split method", the translation could become more accessible to know; In the translation of the chart, it needs to make new chart sometimes to make sure both texts have the same form and data. This thesis shows translation problems the author met in the process of translation and reviewing and the adopting corresponding translation strategies to solve these problems in order to provide a reference for people who will translate such texts afterwards.
