Application Of Parallel Texts In The Translation Of Scientific And Technical News

This article is a report of translation project. The task described in the project is to translate the 21 technology news reports under the Climate Change Column of the famous British magazine New Scientist website (http://www.newscientist.com/search?doSearch=True &query=stain) into Chinese.In this report, the author chooses part of instances to compare the initial translated text with the revised translated text as to the difficult matters encountered in the process of project translating, and discusses the guiding function of the parallel texts in the news translation of science and technology from the view of the accuracy of the semantics of the target language and the normalization of the language and form of target language.By translating the project and analyzing and discussing the report, this report concluded the following contents:the scientific news is a special and interdisciplinary literal style, whose translated text shall embody both the character of science and news, as well as applying the authoritative parallel text to provide helpful references on the aspect of semantics accuracy, language and the form normalization of the target language to the translation of scientific news in order to improve the quality of target language. The author hopes that the research on the guiding function of the parallel text in the translation of scientific news can provide some references to other translation of scientific news, meanwhile to provide a new perspective for the research of parallel text and the report of project translation from the perspective of scientific news.
