The Multi-angle Research Of “Dehua”(的话) In Modern Chinese

This dissertation focuses on“dehua”(的话)in modern Chinese.It has three main functions,which are hypothesis particle,topic marker and pause particle.The three functions are respectively denoted as“dehua1”,“dehua2”and“dehua3”.The dissertation mainly consists of three parts,that are the preface,the body part and the conclusion.Chapter one is the preface of the thesis, which introduces the purpose, the significance of this thesis, the current research status, the research object, the research method and the sources of corpus, etc.Chapter two focus on the syntactic characteristics of “dehua1” in hypothesis sentence, the co-use situation of “dehua1” with hypothesis conjunctions, finally contrasts “dehua1” with modal particle “ba/ne”(吧/呢).Chapter three we describe the topic marker of “dehua2” in details. In this chapter,we focus on the syntactic characteristics of “dehua2”in topic sentences, the topic types,semantic features, looming rules, co-occurrence with other topic markers, discourse functions.Chapter four we analyze the modal function of“dehua3”:conjunction+“dehua3”.Chapter five describes the lexicalization of “dehua”.Based on the corpus analysis,“dehua1” is the core one, “dehua2”and “dehua3”develop along with “dehua1”.Chapter six is the conclusion part, which summaries the main context and raises some questions which worth further research.
