As an important part of human cognitive processes, memory is an important tool for the promotion of human evolution, It pushed us to evolve from primitive society to a modern society, So, it has been the one of the concerns of psychologists. But, Not only the psychologists pay attention to memory, Back in ancient Greece, philosophers began to pay attention to memory and put forward their own views about memory. However, the earliest scientific research of memory is started by the German psychologist- Hermann Ebbinghaus, he used the nonsense syllables to study the law of memory, since then, psychologists begin to pay attention to the memory. However, after a long period of time, psychologists focused on the study of the true memory. Not all the memories are correct, Until 1932, the research of Bartleet let people begin to understand and realize the false memories, Although the false memory began to be recognized by the worlds, but it didn’t receive the attention and concern, Until the 1950 s, the false memory began to be valued, psychologists began to study a lot of it.The study included two experiments, the first one is aim to explore the relationship between the learning’ modalities and false memory in the short-term memory, The second experiment is mostly same to the first one,but the second one focus on the long-term memory. Then, combining the two data to analysis the relation between the false memory and the interval. The results of two experiments indicate that:1. The different presentation of the words affects the subjects’ false memory, Compared to the single channel, the two kinds of the channel leads to more false memory.2. When the words are learned by one presentation, the plus of the interval lead to more false memory. The results will be nonsense when the words are presentation in two channels.3. If words are similar in spelling, the false memory will occur. This study not only can enrich the theory of false memory, but also can provide guidance for the students to help them to learn English by themselves, the study can contact the theory and practice effectively.
