Heidegger’s "Ethic" Issue, Existence And Truth

Martin · Heidegger’s thinking has deeply affect the history of western philosophy and the thematic analysis of existential structure is the most important part in Being and Time. Though the ethic issue is not the core in the discussion of Heidegger’s philosophy, this dissertation attempts to analyze Heidegger’s understanding of "ethic" which he interpret it as "dwelling" in Pathmarks. As the whole structure of Dasein contains the original dwelling, we can find some clues in his discussion which indicate that the ethic issue is a part of existential theory. This paper focus on "ethic" issue and intend to prove that ethic issue is deeply rooted in existential constitution. As Heidegger’s discussion of truth can connect the problem of ethic and the problem of existence, I will take the problem of truth at the central of the whole structure.In Being and Time, the structure of existence is divided into three parts: understanding, attunement, and falling. The problem of ethic has the same structure guilt, wisdom, falling prey. Though the meaning of structure has some moral sense, it cannot be explained in that way and should be understand in Dasein’s original existence as well. Like in the problem of existence and ethic, Heidegger also divides the truth into a three parts structure:original disclosedness, closedness-simultaneously disclose and close-completely close. In my dissertation, the structure of truth play an important role in the connection of the structure of existence an ethic.The first part of this passage explains "ethic" and "ethics" at their etymology in order to distinguish their concept between the traditional meaning and Heidegger uses. In Heidegger, ethics is explained as a subject which will let "ethic" issue manifest itself in the primary way. The second and the third chapter are the second part and this part mainly analyze the structure of existence and truth. The third part treats each portion of the structure in detail. Chapter 4 which is a component of part three, mainly analyze the problem of guilt in the structure of ethic and guilt is corresponded with understanding in the existential structure and with original-disclosness in the structure of truth. Because the all have the same characteristic. Chapter 5 focus on wisdom which means the beings are encountered in the surrounding world. This shows it contains the element of throwdness. At the same time, the wisdom of disclose could also make closeness, so it is a part of the structure of truth. Chapter 6 focus on falling in the world. Falling in the world are understood negatively by lots of philosopher in a quite long period, but this passage want to prove it is necessary for Dasein to falling in the world in order to have a steady foundation to disclose.This dissertation want to show that although the ethic issue is not at the core of Heidegger’s philosophy and he has not discussed it in detail, we can find some clues that ethic issue is both related to the structure of existence and truth. And Heidegger believes that ethic is intended to dwell has its own supportion.
