Study On The Translation Strategies Of Business Contract E-C

With the development of the society and the economy, the foreign trade of China is growing fast. In the trade exchanges, the contract stipulates the rights and obligations of both parties and plays a very important role in the process of cooperation. Therefore, the translation of business contract is very important. A high quality translation of business contract not only can make clear the responsibilities and rights of both parties, but also can effectively avoid the divergence in the process of cooperation as well as avoid the disputes arising from the contractual understanding.In this paper, firstly, the author elaborates the function of the business contracts, the importance of the translation and the current situation and problems in the business contract translation. In the second part, the author introduces the theory of logico-semantic relation of clause complex, and presents the three types of expansion(one between clauses): elaboration, extension and enhancement. Then, a part of an English business contract is chosen as the object of case studies. In the third chapter, the general characteristics of the selected business contract and the characteristics in the perspective of logico-semantic relations of clause complexes are analyzed. After that, the author makes the case studies and discusses the strategies of the translation of the selections from a business contract. Finally, a conclusion is given. In addition to discussing the translation strategies of business contracts, the author also shows the guiding role of the theory of logico-semantic relations of clause complexes in the analysis of translations, hoping to promote the combination of the linguistic theory and translation practice.
