| Zhu Lin, the famous Chinese drama artist, who always carries herself gracefully elegant and dignified, started her performance life at the age of 14, presented more than fifty vivid and splendid artistic images, including Lu Shiping, Cai Wenji, Linda, Fonsia, etc., and was hailed as "The First Tsing Yi" of Beijing People’s Art Theater, "The Queen of China Drama", and "The National Outstanding Drama Artist" at the centenary of Chinese Drama. While overlooking Lin’s performance path, it was not hard to notice that as Lin performing, she blended herself in to the character:mentally, Lin lived a life as if she was the character, and physically, she tried to mimic the appearance to the extend. Lin talked smoothly and gracefully while delivering the lines and kept a cadence rhythm. Overall, Lin’s unique, charming, and poetic performance style was accomplished not only by her special personal experiences and artistic appreciation, but also by learning of Stanislavski Performing System and guidance of The Beijing People’s Art Theater School. My article will discuss about Lin’s drama path and performance art, through analyzing her development in drama, periodic classic plays, formation of characters, and style of performance, using related performance theory and psychological way, combined with massive primary sources, to organize, compare, analyze and conclude Lin’s accomplishment in performing creation and art. |
