On The Study Of "wife" Title Changes In The Classical Literary Works In The Pre-qin Period

In this paper, the title of "wife" in the classics literature in the pre-Qin period is studied from the view of literary and artistic sociology, with the aim of showing the culture changes of the custo mary "wife" title in da ily life in that times. Simultaneously, I also master th e function of the em otion with the changes of the title of "wife" from the angle of the works reflecting proactively so cial life, analyzing truly the patt ern of their writer ’s thoughts and feelings.Based on the classic literature such as The Book of Songs, The Comm entary of Zuo and The Intrigues of the W arring States, I try to have a system atic understanding of the "wife" title’s characteristics in three different stages of the pre-Qin period: the western Zhou dynasty, Spring and Autumn and Warring States. Overall, the emotional title of "wife" in the Book of Songs is varied due to writers from different classes, like ode(Y A) and Hym ns(Song) presenting the noble life with much praise and affirmation. But, the "wife" title in Air(Feng) by the laboring people contains much love and beauty. In The Zuo Commentary as a historical biography, the "wife" title was classified obviously. For example, the queen was titled only as emperor’s wife, and Mrs can only be used to ca ll the feudal princes’ wife, etc. The authors of The Intrigues of the Warring States express their ideas at a neutral stance because of necessity of the lobby of the strategists in the Warring States period. So, the name of wife for each class, beginning to be locked, is actually a kind of soci al identity, such as the "wife", the "m arried woman" and the "concubine" having been becom ing a regular title of the dif ferent classes women in the process of times change.The "wife" title’s change is fundamentally the result from the one of social structure. For this reason, I explore the cause of "wife" name transformation in the pre-Qin period from the view of "society in literature and art" rather than "literature in the society", concentrating on three aspects of social structure: implem ents, systems, ideas. It is to say, the evo lutionary history of the "wife" name in the pre-Qin period, is the one histor y of social structure in that. By this, we can see the developm ent of social productivity, system and conception from the study of "wife" name in classical literature in the pre-Qin period.In the classical literary works such as The Book of Songs, The Comm entary of Zuo and The Intrigues of the W arring States, although the "wife" name has t he author’s individual emotional expression, it implies and shows the social psychology and social identity. There is evident that the "wif e" name has the de tailed classification which is various, and has an obvious difference and strong hier archy from direct relations and indirect ones between emperor and women, which just reflects the re lationship on the basis of blood kinship and production lifestyle of Chinese fa rming civilization, thus form ing the pattern of the national isostructurism and parents absolute authority and resulting in a kind of cultural mind-set from the highest to the lowest and social mentality with severe hierarchy.
