The Study On Discourse Thematic Referentiality Of Objective Of Sentence YOU

Sentence YOU(有) is one of the most basic and complex constructions in Chinese.The paper mainly discusses the differences of the discourse thematic referentiality within and between the three different kinds of objects, i.e. possessive objects, existential objects, and enumeratic objects, and discusses further the factors relevant to the differences.The paper discusses firstly the inner thematic differences of each kind of objects, they may be low, middle, or high in discourse thematic referentiality, which relate to animacy, referentiality, concreteness, or expressing forms. That is to say, entities which are animal, referential, concrete, or expressed by classifiered NP are more higher in discourse thematic referentiality than entities which are inanimal, nonreferential, abstract, or expressed by bare NP. The result reveals that animacy, referentiality, concreteness, and expressing forms relate to discourse thematic referentiality closely and extensively.The paper then discusses the diffrences of discourse thematic referentiality between the three objects, they constitute a hierarchy according to discourse thematic referentiality: existential objects>enumeratic objects>possessive objects, but the factors relevant to them are not the same:(1)existential objects are higher saliently in discourse thematic referentiality than possessive objects, which relates to animacy, referentiality, concreteness, and expressing forms.(2) enumeratic objects are higher saliently in discourse thematic referentiality than possessive objects, which relates to animacy, referentiality, and concreteness, but not to expressing forms.(3) existential objects are higher saliently in discourse thematic referentiality than enumeratic objects, which relates to referentiality and concreteness, but a little to animacy and expressing forms. The result reveals the complexity and diffrences between the three objects.
