A Study On The Female Characters In The Book Of Intrigues Of The Warring States

The female characters are an important group of people that are worth our attention except the think tanks and lobbyists in the book of Intrigues of the Warring States. The description and record of the female characters was not affluent in the books of pre-Qin period. But the writers and the compiler of Intrigues of the Warring States noticed the influence of the female characters in society, especially the influence of the political females, who got close to the royal power and made their contribution to the man-manipulated world in their own way.In the warring states period, the rules set by "Zhou" Dynasty had been destroyed Wars broke out frequently among the states. The society was not stable, and all kinds of thoughts were produced by different schools. The social relationship built by "Zhou" Dynasty was disordered. From the king of "Zhou" Dynasty to ordinary people, they were leading a rapid-changing life. Every level of the society could not always get the absolutely advantage. So the intellectuals who could lead the world were desired by the ruling class. However, they lacked in the sense of belonging and were in hope of changing the world by themselves.so they changed the bosses they served very often. Under such a background, the utilitarian was the main value the intellectual held, which made the king and the common people balance the benefit before making decisions.The main point of this essay is to analyze the female characters based on the book of Intrigues of the Warring States. This essay mainly includes three chapters. The first chapter is to describe and categorize the female characters, and then study the value of these characters. In the second chapter the artistic characteristics are analyzed from the aspect of literature, and the female characters were compared with the ones in the book of Zuozhuan which was read by people in the same period as Intrigues of the Warring States. And then a discussion on the value of the female characters on the narratology in pre-Qin period is also conducted. The third chapter is to study the behaviors of the female characters in the book, and also discuss the influence of the mighty political females on the lobbyists.
