Based on the space view represented by the new cultural geography literature, this thesis analyzes Han Han’s novel creation in 1999 from the perspective of geography and culture. By summarizing the space strategy in the novel and the structure of space, the central value of space factors in both Han Han’s living experience and his novel creation is highlighted. The main structure of this thesis is composed of three parts. The first part is “spatial juxtaposition” which discusses the phenomenon of space segmentation in the Han Han’s narrative. With geography, speed and memory as the basis of the space, this part involves the external radiation of dystopia, anxiety of modernity, liner logic and the ecological representation of spatial juxtaposition. The second part discusses “circumferential polymerization”, analyzing the connection of the spaces and the clues that enrich the spatial changes after the breaking of the spaces, and analyzing the sociological direction hidden after such space aggregation phenomenon as life and death, disaster, and traffic from another perspective. The third part is concerned with "narrative dimensions", which provide an overview of the influence of complex space structure on narrative as the complex space structure is formed by the aggregation of spatial juxtaposition and circumferential polymerization. Besides, narrative significance of spatial characteristics in Han Han’s novel can be summarized to a large extent.
